What are full-spectrum extracts?
In our understanding, the term full-spectrum refers to the whole hemp plant. Some other providers believe the term full-spectrum refers only to the spectrum of cannabinoids. Therefore, our full-spectrum products consist only of hemp. An extract is produced using carbon dioxide extraction, which is then mixed with hemp seed oil (pressed hemp seeds) and adjusted with isolated cannabidiol or cannabidiolic acid to the desired CBD/CBDA concentrations.
The hemp extract contains, in addition to the cannabinoids (read more about cannabinoids) of the hemp plant, also terpenes (read more about terpenes) and secondary plant substances. The hemp extract has a brown-green color due to the contained chlorophylls and a sticky, viscous consistency due to the contained waxes and long-chain molecules. Unlike broad-spectrum extracts, the hemp extract also contains THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), although this THC content is below 0.2 percent. Our full-spectrum extract is decarboxylated. This allows us to standardize the products optimally, as the precursor substances of the cannabinoids lose the carboxyl group through this heating process. The hemp seed oil from pressed hemp seeds contains valuable fatty acids (Omega 3, Omega 6, and linolenic acid). Thus, genuine full-spectrum extracts are pure hemp products and contain the most important characteristic ingredients of the hemp plant.
CANNEXOL products from full spectrum extracts:
- Contain all characteristic ingredients of the hemp plant
- Pure hemp products
- Products with standardized CBD, CBDA, and THC content

What are broad-spectrum extracts?
A broad spectrum extract is understood to be a CBD extract with reduced/completely removed THC content. Inevitably, secondary plant substances are also removed during this separation process, and the extract changes in color and consistency. Broad spectrum extracts contain fewer bitter substances, chlorophyll, and larger molecules and usually have a golden yellow color. The proportion of cannabinoids and terpenes is correspondingly higher. The separation methods are often distillation and chromatography; colloquially, these are also called distillates, although by definition a broad spectrum extract has had the THC removed.
CANNEXOL products from broad spectrum extracts:
- Standardized products without THC
- Contain fewer bitter substances
- Contain various flavor-neutral carrier oils
- Contain various aromas

What are pure extracts?
Pure CBD extracts are pure substances. The extracts are purified until a single substance, usually separated by crystallization, is obtained. The resulting isolate can then be used again to enrich and standardize hemp products. Both cannabinoids and terpenes can be used as pure substances. Terpenes can be used to standardize smells and flavors. They have been used since time immemorial in the food industry, cosmetic products, other aroma products, and chemical products.
CANNEXOL products from pure extracts:
Contain only one substance, or a chosen mixture of pure substances
